FAQs
Answers to the questions we get the most.
Do ND’s take insurance?
Dr. Slezak and his ND colleagues in California do not currently contract with insurance companies for inclusion in their policies, however many patients with a policy that covers out of network providers can submit a claim for reimbursement from their insurance carrier. Payment for visits is required at the time of service though.
How are ND’s different than MD’s?
Naturopathic Doctors are trained in accredited 4 year medical schools just like our MD counterparts. While we are both trained in primary care medicine, ND’s focus more on the healing modalities of nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine and homeopathy while MD’s spend more time learning surgery and hospital based care which is not part of the scope of the ND.
What does a typical visit look like?
Whether virtual or in office, the typical first appointment with Dr. Slezak involves an extensive interview, review of labs and studies, physical exam when indicated, teaching about your condition, and the provision of a comprehensive treatment plan at the end of the visit. Dr. Slezak may also recommend and can supply a number of dietary supplements from his virtual or in office dispensary to assist in fulfilling his treatment recommendations as well as labs or imaging to assist in your diagnosis.
Follow up visits are often done after the first month of treatment but vary depending on the circumstances of the patient.
Who would benefit from seeing an ND?
Since Dr. Slezak is trained in primary care medicine and has a broad array of experience in most conditions, almost everyone would be a good candidate for seeing Dr. Slezak. If you’re not sure he can help, consider emailing Dr. Slezak or scheduling a free 15 minute discussion with him to see if you’re a good fit.
What are your visit durations and fees?
Initial visits are scheduled for 90 minutes and the fee is $360, follow up visits are scheduled for 45 minutes and the fee is $185. If extra time is needed during a visit then additional prorated fees may apply. Shorter visits for basic issues or questions are available but must approved by Dr. Slezak.
